Mickie's 40 over 40 Story
Shoulders?
Stressing about what to wear and what was going to happen.
Meeting other strong women
Nothing in particular
It will be interesting to meet other strong women from different walks of life.
Getting pictures I will like. ( No pressure). Learning how you are able to pose a non-model to look good.
It is worth the wait. I didn't get married till I was 35 and it was worth it. Sometimes even though you don't know why it might not be the right time. I wanted to be President of Illinois Pharmacist Association- I lost my first try at the presidency. 10 years later I ran and won and got the experience it with my family.
You may be surprised where the path will lead you. If I had been told some of the things that I would do - 20-30 yrs ago - I would have told you you have the wrong person. Listen to your mentors.
The most influential people in my life were my parents- My mom was working mom all my life but she also was my girls scout leader, team mom and made it to most of our games, activities. She showed you can work and still do all of these things. My dad instilled the need for an education- he was not able to get a college degree- he never stopped learning and made sure we understood the need to keep learning.
Soap and water to wash your face. Aloe gel for a sunburn as soon as possible.
My wedding day.
I was the most proud of myself when I became President of Illinois Pharmacist Association- a great professional achievement and my oath of office was given by my kids. I was proud that I was able to prepare them to speak in front of about 100 people to give me the oath just like we practiced at home. It showed that I was able to be a good mom, wife at the same time. I think women feel that they have to be good at their job or their family. You can have both. It was very stratifying a few years later to hear my kids talk about all the cool things and place they got to be involved while I was involved in the organization.
