Overcoming Your Fears So You Can Exist In Photos

The running commentary in your head plays a major role in your decisions and the fears that hold you back.  Therefore, whether you believe you can or cannot,  that will be your reality.  Your inner dialogue can be influenced by external sources, as well.  Kids can be cruel so you probably heard several reasons why you're ugly.  Sadly, it's so much easier to hang onto and believe the criticism than it is the compliments, even when the compliments far outweigh the criticism and the criticism isn't true!

Unfortunately, this negative self-talk can cause you to miss out on amazing opportunities. Why is that? Because you now become fearful.  You've built it up in your mind that you can't do something or that you won't look good doing it, and your inner dialogue will be right...again.  Don't miss out on existing in photos because of your negative beliefs.  Check out the most common myths you're probably telling yourself to avoid taking photos and why you shouldn't believe them.

"I'm Not Photogenic" – The Myth of Perfection

The notion of being "photogenic" is a myth – one that your inner critic loves to perpetuate. In reality, It's not your job to be photogenic!  As a professional photographer, it is my job to bring out the best in you and in everyone who steps in front of my lens. It's not about perfection or looking like anyone else; it's about capturing your best authentic self in a way that resonates with you.

Furthermore, feeling awkward in front of the camera is more common than you think. Professional photographers are adept at guiding you through natural and authentic poses that bring out your genuine self. It's not about perfection; it's about capturing real moments.

"I Need to Lose Weight First" – Embracing Your Body, Now

Delaying a photoshoot until you achieve a certain weight is a common mistake. The truth is, your body is a testament to your journey, and capturing it at every stage is a celebration of self-love. Don't let the narrow beauty standards hold you back from existing in photos and loving yourself.  You deserve to capture the now and when you lose the weight you want let's repeat the session!  You will feel amazing and love that you've documented where you started.

"I'm Too Busy" – Prioritizing Self-Care

The hustle and bustle of life often convince us that self-care, including a professional photoshoot, is a luxury. In reality, it's a powerful act of self-preservation. Taking time for yourself is not an indulgence; it's a statement that you matter.  And you do!  Together we will create beautiful works of art that you will cherish for the rest of your life.

self-talk, fear of photos, fear of camera, exist in photos, deserving of photos

"I'm Not Worthy" – Rewriting Your Self-Worth Script

This deep-seated belief that you're not worthy of being captured in portraits is a narrative that needs rewriting. Every individual has a unique story, and professional portraits provide a medium worthy of rewriting the script. It's time to acknowledge your worthiness.  Furthermore, confidence is not a necessity before your portrait session because it often comes as a product of the session.

Plus, investing in professional portraits is not an act of selfishness; it's an investment in your well-being. The images you receive will be timeless reminders of your strength, beauty, and journey. It's an act of self-love that radiates beyond the frame.  Additionally, the portraits we create will be heirloom pieces that can be cherished and passed down through the generations.  They will be a beautiful testament to your legacy.

"I'm Too Old" – Embracing Aging Gracefully

Age should never be a barrier to capturing your beauty. Professional portraits are not about freezing a moment in time but about celebrating the evolving chapters of your life. Embrace the lines and wrinkles – they tell stories of resilience, strength and wisdom.

In conclusion, your inner dialogue most often is your biggest critic, but it's one that can be challenged and silenced. Professional portraits are a powerful tool for rewriting the narrative of self-perception, telling a story of authenticity, resilience, and self-love. So, the next time your inner critic speaks up, remind yourself that you are worthy, you are beautiful, and your story deserves to be captured. Embrace the journey, embrace your now and embrace the portraits.  I will do the work to make sure you look your best despite what your inner critic says.
