Why I Love Being A Photographer

I love being a photographer!  Like most photographers, I have dabbled in almost every genre.  I’ve photographed babies, families, weddings, seniors, landscapes, products, custom website photos, real estate, events, and much more.  I feel that it’s a journey that every photographer needs to take in order to know exactly what we LOVE photographing. 

I had never even considered beauty, boudoir or branding as my primary focus, but all that changed the day I ran across a free educational video.  This video talked about pampering women and helping them see their beauty through an amazing photographic experience that culminates in creating beautiful portraits of themselves that they love; possibly for the first time.  That video was a game-changer for me!  I may have only been able to watch a small portion of it that day, but it changed my life.

Fixing Her Crown

I found my passion in photographing women’s Beauty, Boudoir & Branding.  Why those? Because looking at photos of me was what helped me realize and finally see my beauty.  So, why not help other women through photography too?  But, I don’t just want to create pretty pictures, I strive to create emotive portraits and an experience that fixes her crown while helping her see her beauty.  One of the best compliments I can receive is when a client comes in hoping to like one but leaves loving a dozen or more.  

I love being a photographer because I used to be just like you; I used to hide in the back or avoid photos altogether.  But as a photographer, it’s my job to know how to guide you to bring clothes that flatter your body. It’s my job to know what poses flatter your body structure and to use flattering lighting!   I say all of this so that you realize you don’t have to be photogenic!  That’s my job as your photographer!  I love that as a photographer, I get to create an experience that changes your narrative about being in front of the camera and empowers you to love your photos! 

Capturing Memories To Cherish 

Not only do I love helping women see their beauty, but I love capturing memories.  One day the people you love won’t be here.  For that reason, I cherish every photo I have of those who have passed and I try to capture more memories every chance I get!  That also means that every photo I capture of you may mean the world to your loved ones one day, as well. Recently, I photographed a few generations sessions where I had three generations of ladies together, creating memories and capturing portraits that they will forever cherish!  They were wonderful sessions and beautiful portraits. 

Filling My Creative Cup & Connections

I also love being a photographer for the creativity and connections it brings!  Photography fills my need for creativity!  I haven’t even scraped the tip of the iceberg when it comes to creativity yet but the possibilities are endless!  My most recent creative photography endeavor is the fire photos which is equal parts creativity and female empowerment for younger ladies, and I love it!

Connection is the part of photography I didn’t anticipate loving.  As an introvert, meeting new people can be stressful, but it has turned out to be another aspect of photography that I love!  Between networking, marketing and all of the online avenues, I meet a lot of women!  If it wasn’t for being a photographer, I never would have met a majority of the amazing women I know and am lucky enough to call my friend!  

My Own Boss

I’m sure I’m probably forgetting several reasons why I love being a photographer, but the last one, for now, it’s that I get to be my own boss.  I love being in charge of my schedule and not having to ask anyone permission.  Of course, owning a business has its share of ups and downs, but I’m loving the journey and I know I’m right where I’m supposed to be.  

Honestly, the Universe sent many signals pointing toward photography, specifically portrait photography, as my calling.  I’m just glad I finally listened!  I love being a photographer.  I feel it's the best, most rewarding field.  I only wish I had realized it sooner, but I'm thankful for it now!
